President Obama’s health-care summit on Thursday was hardly the bipartisan session he had hoped it would be, with Republicans calling for the White House to start over with the entire reform process. Obama said he hoped the event was not become just “political theater” and pleaded with the GOP to confront an issue he described as a catastrophic drag on the American economy.
