Nokia (NOK) shares dipped slightly in premarket trading on speculation that its joint venture with Siemens AG would make a bid for Motorola’s networking equipment division. Nokia Siemens Networks is considering a $1.1 billion to $1.3 billion bid for the Motorola unit, as a means to bolster its entry into the U.S., according to a Wall Street Journal report.
Motorola (MOT) announced plans in February…

NewEgg ships fake Intel Core i7 CPUs, but why?
Mar 8, 2010 Object
NewEgg made a mistake of shipping about 300 counterfeit Core i7-920 CPU processors. Seems like NewEgg’s supplier D&H Distributing also received 2,000 fake units.
NewEgg is usually reliable and so is their partner supplier but we’re not sure what went wrong here. As of this writing, NewEgg is trying to supply …

Some CeBIT booths raided
Mar 8, 2010 Object
The German police did it again at last week’s CeBIT. They raided some booths at the event because of patent infringement. Apparently, they were called it perhaps by Sivel, Siemens, and Apple although still a rumor. The booths were fined €10,000.
I wonder which companies we’re talking about here. I hope …

Green County Choppers? OCC creates custom electric chopper
Filed under: Motorcycle, Alternative Fuel
Following Orange County Choppers’ frequent use of alt-fuels (see E85 bike and natural gas bike) comes something a wee bit different from what we’re used to seeing from the New York-based custom motorcycle crew: a fully electric chopper. Commissioned by Siemens USA, the zero-emissions motorcycle is powered by a 27-horsepower electric motor from Advanced DC and can go an estimated 60 miles after a five-hour charge. Top speed is listed at 100 miles per hour, likely making this one of the fastest bikes ever to roll out of the OCC showroom.
Naturally, you’ll get to watch the build take place on an episode of American Chopper that’s current scheduled to air on TLC on Thursday, October 22 at 9PM. Says Paul Teutul, Sr.:
Building an electric bike from recycled materials was something new for us, but we definitely enjoyed the challenge and think that the end product makes a great addition to our wide range of unique motorcycles. While electric bikes probably won’t surpass traditional ones for the foreseeable future, we also think that energy efficient technologies are increasingly important for both manufacturers and consumers.
At this time, OCC says it has no plans to mass produce an electric chopper, but Senior says it’s would consider it if adequate demand were there. In any case, you’ll get the chance to own this example after Siemens take it on a worldwide tour in 2010, after which it will be auctioned off with the benefits going to “a charitable cause that will help benefit the environment.” Click past the break for a video along with the press release.
